What is the Zone Technique?

The Zone Technique is a highly specific chiropractic approach designed to support balance and communication within the nervous system. Originally developed from Dr. Thurman Fleet’s Zone Therapy in the 1930s and later refined by Dr. Pete Goldman, the Zone Technique focuses on how the brain monitors and coordinates different systems of the body.

The body can be viewed as six primary systems:

  • Glandular System

  • Eliminative System

  • Nervous System

  • Digestive System

  • Muscular System

  • Circulatory System

How the Zone Technique Works

Each of these systems is regulated by a specific area of the brain responsible for sending and receiving signals to the tissues and organs it controls. Everyday stressors such as physical strain, illness, emotional stress, or injury can interfere with this communication. When signals are disrupted, the system may not function as efficiently as it should, which can contribute to symptoms or reduced adaptability in the body.

During a Zone Technique evaluation, specific points on the back of your head are gently assessed to help determine which system may be under stress “out of balance.” Once identified, precise spinal adjustments are used to stimulate neurological pathways associated with that system, with the goal of supporting improved brain-to-body communication. This is similar to needing the right passcode to unlock your phone. Each treatment delivers adjustments to specific points along your spine to reset that brain center so it functions properly.

Rather than treating isolated symptoms, the Zone Technique focuses on helping the body restore balance and function as a whole allowing it to better adapt, regulate, and express health the way it was designed to.
